Is a nose broken if it bleeds purple blood?

I got in a fight last night, and now the girl I fought is claiming I broke her nose and she's going to sue me. She started the fight by giving me dirty looks, then asking me what the fck I thought I was looking at. But to make a long story short i'm 17 she is 19 so she can't sue me, but after I hit her she did bleed a lot and the blood came out purple. It didn't feel like I hit her hard enough to break it, but can it seriously be broken? (And before anyone gives me any mess bout hitting a girl, i am one - i know i dont have a pic)
