Is it legal to buy a lighter in Ontario?

To elaborate more, I need a lighter (Like a BIC lighter), but is it legal to buy one in Ontario specifically, since I'm underage? I went into a convenience store (A chain convenience store; Mac's Milk) and they asked for my ID. Do I really need an ID to buy a stupid little lighter? I'm not buying tobacco, and the clerk can't just ume what I'm using it for. I know this has already been asked, but I need it to be more specific.
